Wide set eyes has a space that is more than 1 eye length between them.
The trick to make the eyes look closer together is focus on the inner corners.

-Apply a neutral shade all over stopping at the brow bone.
-Apply a medium shade on the eye lids.
-Apply a dark shade to the inner corners. Blend up towards the brow bone.
-Apply a lighter shade to the outer corners.
-Line the eyes at the lash line.
-Apply mascara concentration on the inner corners of the upper and lower lashes.

Thicker and fuller brows can also make your eyes appear closer together.
Do not extend the brows to far outside of the face. It can make your eyes appear even further apart.

Close set eyes has a space that is less than one eye length between them. People with close set eyes usually have a slender nose as well.
To make the eyes appear further apart, focus on the outer corners.

-Apply a light shade all over the eye stopping where the brow bone begins.
-Apply a medium shade to the eyelids.
-Apply a darker shade half way in the crease and on the eye lid. You can also create a > on the outer corner. 
-Blend the dark colors until the harsh lines are faded.
-Apply a light shimmery eyeshadow to the inner corners.
-Apply liner to the lash line starting in the middle going outwards. you can also create a wing to elongate the eyes.
-Apply mascara concentrating on the outer corners.
