Tips For Applying Makeup Faster

After having my daughter Layla, I had to figure out how to balance getting her and myself ready. At first, I just focused on her and left with some lipstick. That wasn’t enough. I wanted to be all dolled up. Most moms can relate with me, I hear you screaming “Me too!!”. I figured out ways to cut my makeup application time down to 20 minutes! Here are 4 tips to help you be able to be the glamorous mom you want to be.

1. Eyes First!

Most people start their application with doing their concealer and foundation first. I decided to switch it up one day and do my eyeshadow first. I did this simply because the fall out from the eyeshadow was messing up the makeup I already applied under my eyes and on my cheeks. I would have to wipe off what I already applied and re-apply everything. What a waste of time and energy! Once I switched to eyes first, I saved a lot of time. Also, it's easier to clean up the eye look I created with the concealer I’ll use under the eyes, killing two birds with one stone.

2. Apply Where You Need It

Some people are blessed with flawless skin, and some just have a couple of issues such as discoloration or puffiness under the eyes. If you’re one of these blessed people, just use concealer to cover up those bags or blemishes. Use a concealer that matches your skin tone. No need for a full face of foundation if your skin is almost perfect. An awesome concealer that gives a beautiful natural finish is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

*BONUS TIP* Taking care of your skin will help cut time with your makeup application. Be sure to wash your face every night, exfoliate regularly, and moisturize daily. Never sleep with makeup on as it ages you

3. Use a Multi-Tasking Mascara

False eyelashes are a great addition to an application, however it can take some time. You have to cut it to size and wait for the glue to get tacky. Again, nobody got time for that! Use a mascara that does both lengthen and thicken the lashes. I love L’Oréal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara. It gives you a similar look to false eyelashes with two coats. Don’t forget the bottom lashes. Doing that can really brighten your eyes.

4. Smoke It Out

Eyeliner can take a long time when you’re trying to make sure one side isn’t thicker or one wing isn’t higher. A quick way to define the eye without the need to be perfect, is to smoke it out. Draw the liner on then take a smudge brush and rub on the liner to create a smoky effect. This is also a great way to do a quick smokey eye. Just use more liner on the lids. A great eyeliner to do this technique with is the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner.
